NEW YEAR'S EVE - Resolutions, anyone?

December 31, the last day of 2008, and time to drag out our list of New Year’s Resolutions. I saw on the news that the top three are always the same – lose weight, exercise more, and quit smoking. I don’t smoke but I sure would like to accomplish the other two! However, I made both those resolutions last year and gained eight pounds. Sigh. So this year, I’m making only one major resolution—I’m going to make an effort to find the positive in everything and everyone. If I can keep that one even half the time, I’ll have gained so much--hopefully not in weight, though.

So how about you? What’s on your list? If you could change anything this coming year, what would it be?

While you’re thinking, let me leave you with some funny (at least to me) New Year's Resolution photos.

Resolved: Never to cram my size twelve body into size ten pants ever again.

Resolved: To always do a 'paper check' before leaving the bathroom.

Resolved: To use spellcheck on EVERYTHING!

Resolved: That firefighters have a strange sense of humor so I will never again park by a fire hydrant!

  1. Linda,
If you gained 8 pounds I can only imagine you've started carrying a bigger purse! LOL, if I weighed what yo do, I'd celebrate by eating chocolate chip cookies.
My favorite photo is the fire one. Here in Phoenix, we actually have manhole covers where someone misspelled Phoenix as Foenix. Ack, on the toilet paper one, don't we all dread that possibility. As, as for the splitting pants. Big there, done that, no photo taken: pre-cellphone I guess.
    Happy New Year!

  2. Oh my. What a fun set of pictures!

I have a few writing goals for 2009, but mostly, I just want to grow as a Christian, grow closer to my sweet hubby, and hopefully do God's will in all that I do.

We had a quiet Christmas and will have a quiet New Year's Eve tonight...and that's helped me just sit back and be thankful for all I have. So, MY goals aren't too radical for 2009...but who knows what GOD's goals for me are going to be like.....**smile**

    Happy New Year!

  4. LOL, LInda!! I loved the photos. And dare I share right here in public that I did the toilet paper thing just a couple of weeks ago??!!

I was at a 50th wedding anniversary reception. I came out of the restroom and was walking around, mingling. My daughter came up behind me and pulled down my sweater in the back. But that's not unusual. She can't stand to see it ride up and tugs my tops down all the time. But once we got in the car, she told me I had tissue hanging out the back! I was horrified!! I don't know if anyone else saw. LOL!

Happy new years eve! And to Jenny who's already in 2009, I hope you're having a great day. :)

  6. Thanks for sharing these funny pics, Linda! ~ In the past, I've always made a list of "resolutions," but this year I decided to make just one overall goal for 2009: To lean completely on the Lord in all areas, trusting Him in everything and for everything. (Hopefully this will help me with my terrible "habit" of WORRYING!!!!). Happy New Year from Georgia, Patti Jo :)

  8. Hey Linda, thanks for the pics. Good reminders that no matter how embarassed we feel, we're not alone.
