Hello, my darlings. I'm fashionably late today but I have a couple of good excuses. I jetted in late last night from that wild and wacky Seekerville! I had such fun chatting that I didn't want to leave that island. It's one of the coolest blogs in cyberspace! Then last night I went to the graduation ceremony for my best friend's youngest son. He was the last of our line of mostly boys. They are all grown up now but we had such exciting adventures when they were younger. So today I'm being a bit sentimental. What do you remember about high school and graduation? Did you think you could conquer the world?
Talk away while Elnora has about four more cups of coffee, please.
I remember thinking Finally, I'm free! I didn't care much for high school. That summer after graduation I went to Italy for three weeks which was amazing and realized I love to travel!
ReplyDeleteI think I felt the same, Terri. I wanted to go to college--one day. But then we got married right after we graduated and I wanted to write, too. I worked in retail (guess that was good since I love shopping) and took colleges courses when I could. But I was so glad to be out on my own at last!
ReplyDeletei remember being relieved. And a little sad. But I went to college in my hometown, so it wasn't like going far away.
ReplyDeleteNow, when my oldest son graduated...that was another story. I was almost stunned that it happened so fast!
We didn't have graduation here in aust back when I was in high school. they do in university but not high school. Some of my memories of my last years as High school are not filled with good memories thanks to bullying and sexual harrassment.
ReplyDeleteI was always told when I left school I would miss it hasn't happened but I thought I would leave school get a job get married have lots of kids and be set.
I didn't go to college. I am doing that now.
I didn't get a job, get married or have kids.
Missy, I was a bit sad too. Buy like jenny I had done bad times too. I didn't exactly fit in. Wonder why! When I moved to Atlanta I became free!! And discovered lots of shoe stores.
ReplyDeleteJenny, I wish you could come and visit us in America.
ReplyDeleteI was just really so excited to graduate. My parents didn't have much schooling so I was one of the very few people on my dad's side to graduate from high school. We didn't have money so I didn't even consider going to college. The school didn't let me know about grants back then. However, 16 years and 2 children after graduating high school I went to our local junior college and graduated there. I was one of many of the older folks in school. I loved school! And school supplies! Weird??

Jenny, The best laid plans of us all! Sorry you had a tough pat in high school. I couldn't stand high school so happy to be done with it.
ReplyDeleteNow, college was a blast! Glad you're going now.
Thanks ladies.
ReplyDeleteLenora I am planning to visit America in the future. I need to find a job first but I want to visit Georgia and see a friend and a few other areas.
Jenny, that's great about you possibly visiting America. I grew up in Georgia! I hope you get to meet some of our LI writers!
