Christmas Party Time

www.rhondagibson.net
Rhonda Gibson here...

Yes it is that time of the year again. I love Christmas parties. This week I am preparing for my local writer's group, The Story Weavers,  Christmas party. It is going to be Saturday the 21st at one of the members house. This is our first Christmas party as a group and I'm way excited.

Here are a few things we are going to do:
1. Eat Brunch (starts at 10am goes until 12:00)
2. Have a bean auction using small, inexpensive, wrapped gifts that we are all bringing.
3. Discuss our plans for the upcoming year.

But, mainly it's to be a time of fellowship. We will get to know one another better, have some fun and celebrate Christ's birth.

What are some of the things that you've done at Christmas parties? I'd love to hear ideas for next years party and since we are doing this early, I might be able to use them this year.

Oh and there is still time to buy Taming The Texas Rancher for a Christmas gift.

  1. One year at our church, all the young mothers' each decorated a table. At first I thought we'd have a horrible hodgepodge of various themes but it actually turned out beautiful. Christmas games we have yet to attempt but we're doing the bean thing with the ladies this Friday night.

  3. haven't been to a lot of Christmas parties. I now one we had to bring a gift which was something a gift to the value of around $5 and it was put on the table and everyone got to take one gift (wrapped).
another is to have christmas cards cut into pieces and everyone gets a piece and has to find the rest of there card.

  4. Had my annual luncheon today for 20 close friends. Janice Thompson and her mother was here and Janice took scads of photos she posted on Facebook. Check them out.

Our fun thing to do is exchange Christmas ornaments. Each bag or package is numbered as it is brought in and then guests draw for a number. They have the option of trading for someone else's before opening their own. Some ladies can get very stingy when it comes to sharing or giving up what they have. Makes for a lot of fun and laughter. The first person then gets her pick of all the ornaments at the end.

We had a great time today and I now have another angel to add to my collection.

  6. Sounds like fun Rhonda. Our local RWA group usually has lunch at a nice restaurant. I had to miss this year because of a book signing. kind of a weird situation. happy for the signing but sad to miss the lunch. :)

    I love Christmas.

  9. A bean auction is like a regular auction only you use beans to bid and buy. You are bidding on wrapped presents with only a clue to reveal what's inside :-)
