Surprise in Paradise
I pulled out this post intending to rewrite it
for this blog but I think it captures my excitement in the moment. There is no
way I could improve on it.
You
will not believe what happened to me this week while on vacation. It’s one of those things that if I put it in
a book the editor would scoff and say, “No one will believe that.”
First off, you need to know that my
hubby and I were on an unexpected free
trip to the Big Island of Hawaii (He won a sales contest. J)
In the meantime, I was anxiously awaiting the final word on a proposal I’d sent
to Love Inspired. My agent had told me the editor wanted to buy it, but until
there was a contract officially offered – well anything can happen.
Time arrived to leave on our trip with no word from the
editor. I was really hoping for a solid answer so I could stop anticipating and
enjoy our time on the island. We arrive at the gorgeous Fairmont Orchid Resort,
meet up with other contest winners and have a lovely dinner at sunset on the
beach. Hard to be too disappointed when you’re in paradise, so I let go of the
anticipation and gave myself over to a week in Hawaii.
The next morning we woke up crazy early – time difference
ya know. My hubby got up when he heard the iPad ding. Not two seconds later he
laughed and said “listen to this.” He then proceeded to read me the email from
my agent telling me she had a contract offer from Love Inspired for my book. I
jumped out of bed, called my agent ( it was five am in Hawaii but 9:30 in
Pittsburg) and got all the details. Needless to say, I was over the moon happy
about the news. Waking up in Paradise
with a contract! Wow. It just doesn’t get any better than that. J
Needless to say the rest of the week was spectacular. Of course every time the iPad dinged we both raced to read the latest
email. Alas, no more contract offers that week. But we got to celebrate in
paradise!
Book # 15 with Love Inspired is
out later this month and while it doesn’t take place in Hawaii, it does take
place in the sunny south in an old historic home and the surprises are around
every corner. I hope you’ll enjoy Reid and Tori’s story. Available in stores
December 19th.
Building
a Dream
Reid
Blackthorn arrives in Dover on a personal mission – to make sure his terminally
ill brother gets a chance to meet his daughter.
Deceiving little Lily’s guardian isn’t his
intention, Yet once Tori Montgomery mistakes Reid for her new handyman, he
knows it’s the only way to be close to his niece. Tori is honoring her friends
last wish by keeping Lily away from her father’s family.
And once she learns who Reid truly is, she
realizes there’s a too much at stake – including custody of Lily – for her to
fall for the former DEA agent. But in keeping a promise, is she losing out on
her chance for a happily-ever-after?
Great story, Lorraine. Thanks for sharing it with us.

ReplyDeleteThanks for all the kind comments. Sorry I haven't responded more quickly but the sinus bug got me down today and I'm just now climbing out of the fog. It was wonderful trip and knowing I was officially an LI author kept me buoyed all week. Every now and again I just stop and giggle. LOL it was really kinda weird, but hubby got a kick out of it. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful story! What a blessing to be in the perfect place to celebrate your success.
