The First Sunday of Advent
Jesus said to his disciples:
"Be watchful! Be alert!
You do not know when the time will come.
It is like a man traveling abroad.
He leaves home and places his servants in charge,
each with his own work,
and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.
Watch, therefore;
you do not know when the Lord of the house is coming,
whether in the evening, or at midnight,
or at cockcrow, or in the morning.
May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.
What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!'"

If you have any prayer needs, please mention them in the comments section so we can join you in prayer. You do not need to include specific names or situations of a private nature, just say that you have a prayer request. The Lord knows your heart and the needs you have. It is a privilege and honor to pray with you and for you.
My son, Jonathan could use some prayers this week and next week as he takes his final exams in his nursing program. This has been a really difficult semester for him (apparently OB and Pediatrics are not his best subjects) and he desperately needs to pass this class. He only has one semester after this one and if he doesn't pass, he'll be kicked out of the program.
ReplyDeleteAny and all prayers appreciated, thank you.
Laura, I'll be praying hard for Jonathan and for him to excel in all his tests! We need good nurses! Will continue to cover him throughout the next semester, as well. Keep us posted!

DeleteLaura, praying for Jonathan and that he does well in all of his tests. Praying for his success!
DeletePraying for a clear mind and good results for Jonathan as he studies and takes these tests.
DeletePrayers for your son.
DeleteFor Matt support in his sobriety and Nate, guidance in making good decisions and not being swayed by bad influences.
ReplyDeletePraying for both guys. Don't know their ages, but I have a small group at church and each Monday we pray for "children at risk," which includes twenty-somethings. They seem to have such a hard time these days and so many influences can lead them in the wrong direction. No matter how old Matt and Nate are, they're in my prayers!
DeleteSending up prayers for the two men.
DeletePraying for both Nate and Matt.
DeletePraying for wisdom and healing and guidance for both Matt and Nate. There are so many bad influences.

DeleteI could use prayers desperately for some test results for my husband. I'm trying not to let fear overtake me, but the waiting is nerve racking. Please pray that Randy's test results are fine.
ReplyDeleteOh, Belle, I'm praying for good test results and for peace for you and Randy. Waiting is always so hard and we always think the worst. I'm thinking and praying for the best! Hugs!
DeletePraying for good results and for peace for you both.
DeleteOh, Belle. How frightening. You've been through so much. Praying hard for you, my friend.

DeleteSo many friends have health issues. Cancer, knee replacements, bronchitis, old age aches and pains. Other surgeries. Our young people , that they would remain steadfast in the Lord. My mother who will turn 101 soon. Unsaved loved ones. Thanks for your prayers. It’s nice that they can be added, wherever two or three are gathered, He is in our midst!
ReplyDeleteWow 101! That’s fabulous. Praying for those in need in your life.
DeletePraying, Paula, for all of your loved ones who are in need of prayer.
DeletePaula, you included so many, and that is indicative of the many suffering in our world. I am honored to include them in my prayers.
DeletePaula, I'm praying that God and love prevails.
DeletePaula, I've been praying for your needs. God bless your sweet mother! We, too, have so many friends who are struggling with cancer. Praying for a cure!
DeleteI’m having surgery this coming Friday. I’d appreciate prayers that all goes well.

DeleteTerri, I hope everything goes well on Friday.
DeletePrayers for successful surgery and a speedy and full recovery.
DeleteTerri, covering you, your surgery and the medical team with prayer! Keep us posted!
DeleteThis offer to pray came at a perfect time for me. My ex, Stan, died last week and he will be waked and buried at the end of this week. My dd had to deal with the news of his death just before finals for her freshman yr at college started. She is doing her best. My son who has asperger's (autism) is also in need of prayers to get through this. Please pray that I can manage to get everything arranged and paid for and that everyone is able to do what is planned so things can be easier on my kids. Thanks for the prayers.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and your family, Dawn.
DeleteDawn, praying for your son, dd and you.
DeletePrayers for your entire family.
DeleteDawn, I saw your post on FB and you've been in my thoughts and prayers since that time. Covering your children as well. So hard on you. Perhaps even harder on them. God bless you all!
DeleteThank you for this lovely scripture reading on this first Sunday of Advent, and thank you for the opportunity to both offer and receive prayer.
ReplyDeleteI am honored to pray for all of those intentions mentioned above.
One of my favorite quotations is, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”
These prayer requests prove that truth.
I ask prayer for my two adult daughters who are both grappling with health concerns. I covet prayers for their healing in body and spirit.
Thank you.
Praying for healing for both daughters.
DeletePrayers, always, for you and your family, Mary. I love the "Be kind" quote. So true! We never know what people are enduring even when they seem to have their lives together. Of course, that's often not the case.
DeleteHugs and love!
