Sunday Scripture and Prayer Requests

The First Sunday of Advent

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Be watchful! Be alert!
You do not know when the time will come.
It is like a man traveling abroad.
He leaves home and places his servants in charge,
each with his own work,
and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.
Watch, therefore;
you do not know when the Lord of the house is coming,
whether in the evening, or at midnight,
or at cockcrow, or in the morning.
May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.
What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!'"
Mark 13:33-37

If you have any prayer needs, please mention them in the comments section so we can join you in prayer. You do not need to include specific names or situations of a private nature, just say that you have a prayer request. The Lord knows your heart and the needs you have. It is a privilege and honor to pray with you and for you.

  1. My son, Jonathan could use some prayers this week and next week as he takes his final exams in his nursing program. This has been a really difficult semester for him (apparently OB and Pediatrics are not his best subjects) and he desperately needs to pass this class. He only has one semester after this one and if he doesn't pass, he'll be kicked out of the program.

Any and all prayers appreciated, thank you.

    1. Praying for both guys. Don't know their ages, but I have a small group at church and each Monday we pray for "children at risk," which includes twenty-somethings. They seem to have such a hard time these days and so many influences can lead them in the wrong direction. No matter how old Matt and Nate are, they're in my prayers!

  3. I could use prayers desperately for some test results for my husband. I'm trying not to let fear overtake me, but the waiting is nerve racking. Please pray that Randy's test results are fine.

  6. This offer to pray came at a perfect time for me. My ex, Stan, died last week and he will be waked and buried at the end of this week. My dd had to deal with the news of his death just before finals for her freshman yr at college started. She is doing her best. My son who has asperger's (autism) is also in need of prayers to get through this. Please pray that I can manage to get everything arranged and paid for and that everyone is able to do what is planned so things can be easier on my kids. Thanks for the prayers.

  7. Thank you for this lovely scripture reading on this first Sunday of Advent, and thank you for the opportunity to both offer and receive prayer.

I am honored to pray for all of those intentions mentioned above.
One of my favorite quotations is, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”

These prayer requests prove that truth.

I ask prayer for my two adult daughters who are both grappling with health concerns. I covet prayers for their healing in body and spirit.
    Thank you.

    2. Prayers, always, for you and your family, Mary. I love the "Be kind" quote. So true! We never know what people are enduring even when they seem to have their lives together. Of course, that's often not the case.

      Hugs and love!
