The End!

Linda Goodnight here, pounding away toward a June 1 deadline and the final installment of the five book series, Redemption River. Hanging out in this small town with Popbottle Jones, GI Jack and a cast of broken spirits who discover hope and healing has been a fulfilling experience. The books have been good to me, garnering two RITA finalists and a Booksellers’ Best final this year, and readers have written beautiful letters about the way the stories have impacted them. So, it is with bittersweet feelings that I cross the bridge to Redemption one last time and bring this series to a close. Of course, book four won’t be out until Christmas and book five is scheduled for next spring, so they will still be around for a while. Still, I'll miss my daily visits.

Has there ever been a series that you especially loved and were sorry to see end?

  1. Hi Linda:

    The End!

You scared me there for a moment. I’ve just encountered ‘the end’ on three blogs in which the writer was giving up on trying to get published. I forgot that ‘the end’ also can be a good thing!

There is a series that I wish had one more book. It’s the “Sisterhood of the Dropped Stitches” by Janet Tronstad. It’s the story of four teenage girls who have all survived cancer and who have formed a support group intended to last indefinitely. Each of the women has her own book. I would have liked to have seen one more book about the therapist who set up the group around a knitting theme. She was older and a wonderful person.

The series also featured a unique way of having multiple first person POVs. Very creative and timeless message.

  2. Vince, I'll have to share that with Janet! She does write good books, doesn't she?

  3. Congrats on finishing! I think it would be sad to leave a town you've enjoyed.

I still have a story I'd like to write using secondary characters from a previous book. :)

  4. As a reader I also find it hard when series end. Like Susan Page Davis the ladies shooters club. I would love to see more in it.
With LI I would love to see more in the Alaskan bride rush series. I do have to say Linda I am glad you ended a couple of the other ladies stories also. But there is still Janet Tronstads character Rocco who could have a story and others.
I would still love to see more in Cheryl Wyatts Wings of Refuge series.
There are others too I would love to see continue too.
