Hi, Janet Tronstad here. Those of you who know me, know I'm a quiet party person. When I celebrate, I like to be in a group and I get swept away by the exuberance of other people.
Some years ago, I planned a party with a friend of mine (dinner, games, that kind of thing). We both had a good time and, when it was over, I asked her what - for her - had been the best part. She told me the 'after party' was best -- sitting down and going over the party together, remembering what had happened, talking about it, etc.. That made me stop and think. Not all of us like the same part of a celebration. As for me, I think I like the planning best. I like to imagine how things will go and figure out what we need to make everything go well. I'm usually not the one dancing on the tables, but I'm the one who thought to bring tables to the party in case anyone wanted to dance on one! What part of the celebration is your place to shine?
Hi Janet,
ReplyDeleteIt's the anticipation and planning of an event that I enjoy--making lists, looking at options, thinking about what it will be like.
Hope you all had a great 4th. We had rain which we badly needed--God's fireworks in the sky outdid man's any day!
I'm kinda like you...I am a quiet party person also and my favorite part is watching others enjoy the party and then remembering the things that went on.
ReplyDeleteI am kinda like your friend I enjoy the outcome of the party. Seeing everyone's reaction to what is going on.
ReplyDeleteLinda -- We had a great 4th of July day here in California. I had a couple of friends over -- we grilled steaks on my patio and then went up on our roof and viewed four different firework displays (one of which was the big one at the Rosebowl). A very nice day.
ReplyDeleteEllen and Jessiecue -- I'd guess a lot of writers/readers are quiet part people so we're in good company. I do like savoring a party after it's over.
ReplyDeleteHi Janet!
ReplyDeleteI think that I like the anticipation. I don't love parties unless I am with a group of people that I am really confortable with. However, usually the party doesn't go as well as it was hoped anyway!
