A Little Introduction

Hi all! I am so excited to be blogging here at The Craftie Ladies blog for the first time! I love being able to join my sister authors here to connect with readers and each other.

Just a little bit about myself. I grew up near Chicago, but now I live with my family in rural northwestern PA. It sometimes seems weird how I went from a city girl to country girl. Instead of looking out my window and seeing more buildings, I look out and see cows. I love it.

I am a true believer in romance and Happy-Ever-Afters. I owe that to my late Aunt Norma. When I was in high school, I came home one day to find a box full of Harlequin Romances on my doorstep. I was hooked. Every few months, there would be a new box. I would dive into it the moment I arrived home from school. I didn't want any of the Happy -For -Now stories. Where was the satisfaction in those endings? Nope. The stories had to be Happy-Ever-Afters. Meld that with my desire to write, and the romance genre was a natural fit. Later, the Lord convicted me that He wanted my stories to be more than a career. It was a ministry.

In 2014, the dream that had been brewing for years became a reality when I sold to Love Inspired Suspense. My first book, Presumed Guilty, released in April, 2015. In April, I will be releasing my third LIS book, Plain Target. It's been an amazing journey.

I look forward to interacting with y'all here. Leave a comment to be entered into the drawing for a signed copy of my 2016 release, Interrupted Lullaby.  Thanks for stopping by.

Blessings,
Dana

  2. Welcome Dana,
So glad you're here. I love the box of books story. On of my best friend's sisters gave me a box of Harlequins when I was about sixteen. I hadn't know they existed. I still remember one was about a secretary taking a cruise and meeting the man of her dreams, who - of course - was a millionaire.

  5. Hi Dana, welcome to the Craftie Ladies! I loved hearing about Aunt Norma. Sounds like she was a sweetie!

Are you a big suspense reader? Did you grow up with Nancy Drew? Do you plan to write sweet romance as well or will you stick with suspense (which is what I love to write and read)? I'm not sure I could write a story without the suspense. Hmmmm....maybe! :)

    Hugs!

  6. Hi Dana! Fantastic to see you here on Craftie Ladies :-) I love learning more about my authors!! I, too, started out reading Harliquin novels. I believe my grandma used to read them and I wanted to be just like her. Don't remember how old I was when I picked up my first romance book. Then years later, I gave my heart to the Lord and no longer wanted that type of love story. So I began searching for Christian romance books. I'm not sure how I first discovered the Love Inspired line, probably found them at a yard sale or something. Once I read my first one, I was hooked!! Thus began my journey of reading romance the way God intended it to be :-) I've since discovered many, many authors in all sorts of genres; Historical, Suspense, Amish, Western, etc. My love of reading has expanded a million-fold since I picked up my first book as a kid!

I have a copy of this book, so no need to include me in on the drawing. I will, however, share this post on Facebook so other readers can hop over here for their chance :-) By the way, I sure can't wait to get your latest LIS since I'm on your team!!!

  10. Pamela.

Isn't funny how we remember these things? My first HR was The Magic of the Boabab by Yvonne Whittal. I have read that book so many times. I still have it!

  13. Debby, my friend! Hi! My aunt was a very kind and wonderful lady.

I love writing suspense, so I don't ever plan to stop. But, I also love sweet inspy romance, so I would like to try that at some point, as well. As for what I read, well, I love any kind of inspy romance. Contemporary, historical, suspense. I also really enjoy some YA, science fiction and fantasy.
