The American Spirit by Leann Harris

As I do this blog, I’m away from home using a dial-up connect. Oh, dear, do you remember the days of slow internet connection? I have aged many days trying to do this blog and am forced to go to a Starbucks.

I watched the memorial service for the people in Joplin Missouri today. What a challenge to the human spirit Nature provided. But the heart of the American people came to for and those who experienced the tornado in Tuscaloosa last month came to Joplin. These volunteers drove the night and camped out in their truck to help the people in Joplin. What a noble spirit. My prayers are with the people in Joplin in their sorrow and challenge. I once had a pastor’s wife tell me the story of how their home burned down Christmas Eve. She said as she stood outside in her robe with her family, she felt God’s goodness surround her and give her peace. I pray for the people who were involved in all the tornadoes this past week, for the grief of losing loved one and all their belongings.

  1. Leann,
I was staying with a family member all last week. The computer was in the basement and it was dial-up. It tool me three attempts to get to my aol mail, so I only checked my mail via desk-top once.
We spent a day in Missouri last week, and Joplin was very much on our minds.
