Attention All Writers: Rock On!

How do writers party? Let me count the ways...

Last weekend was American Christian Fiction Writers' Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. For three incredible days, writers from all over the country met at the Hyatt Regency for education and networking.

And FUN.

You might wonder how writers have fun at a conference?

1. We hide in our rooms to read the new book we bought at the book store. Signed, of course!

2. We eat dessert at lunch AND dinner.

3. We hide in our rooms and watch television marathons (you know who you are!)

4. Sometimes writers take a popular song and create a scripted movie out of it (you know who you are too!)

5. There's usually coffee involved whenever we gather together.

6. We cry, we laugh, we basically wear our feelings on our sleeve...but only with those we trust. Which is usually other writers.

7. We hide in our rooms and try to finish the manuscript that is contractually due in THREE days (not fun, but rewarding when said writer finishes!)

What do YOU do for fun?

  1. Next year ACFW is in Dallas so I'm going to try to attend. It's hard because it's during the school year. Sounds like you had a great time!

  2. There are so many ways to have fun at ACFW, but the best has to be seeing and hanging out with all those friends we only get to see once a year. :)

  3. Mindy, I agree. It's so wonderful to see everyone again. As for those desserts...back to reality means hitting the gym again. One of my favorite things to do at the St Louis location is visit the amazing museums next to the hotel. Last time I went through the museum at the base of the Arch. This time I spent quality time in the Old Courthouse right across the street.

  4. It was wonderful meeting you, Jessica. :)
The ACFW Conference was wonderful (as usual) for me---the best part was seeing dear friends and making NEW friends! (waving at Mindy and Christine!). ;)

  6. I'm glad you had such a good time, Jessie. I'm sorry I couldn't join in the fun this year, but I have such wonderful memories of meeting you at the RWA® Literacy Autographing that year when Nationals was moved to Orlando. Who knew then that we'd both end up writing for Love Inspired? How cool is that?
