Book Clubs

Missy, here. I have some friends from my church who are big readers. We've talked about books for years and just recently decided to start a book club. We had our first meeting last night and had the best time! We'd read Karen White's new book, The Beach Trees, which was amazing! We had a great time discussing it. We used the questions in the back of the book. Oh, and we also had food! :)

We're still deciding when to meet again and what to read. Are any of you in book clubs? If so, what type format do you use?

P.S. Don't forget to vote in the sidebar about what makes you buy a book!

  1. I tried to get interest in a bookclub at the church last year not one person responded. Oh a couple did later but saying no one reads in our church or not many do. I said look a the bookshelves see how many books are out we have readers!
Because one lady doesn't read doesn't mean others dont. we have alot of readers in the church but seems not were interested in a book club which was sad. Part of the idea was discussing books but also to give me something to join and be involved somewhere.
I am so glad yours went well wish I was there.

  2. I wish I had one of those book clubs but our society is not much into getting together and share a common taste in books. In fact, the habit of buying and reading books for pleasure is quite recent; what might explain why we still have a long road to go to achieve your reality - if we ever get there...
I would most definetly use the questions that Love Inspired books enclose.
Home for Faith is a wonderful book - it makes you cry, laugh, love, judge, pardon, hope...
A winner indeed... and though I sneak to read a bit of the end of the book (sorry ;)) it had me in tangles until the end.
It gave me great pleasure to read the questions and answer them on my own.

  3. I've already talked with someone at church about doing a bookclub. But, getting the time is the issue. I think if I had more more activity each month on my schedule, my husband would have a cow.

  4. Our local church has a small book club, the Faith Bookies. :-)Twice I've given each member one of my latest releases. And I support my church's library donating not only my books but others.

  5. Jenny, hugs! I wish you could join us. Maybe if you come visit your friend in Georgia. :)

  6. Teresa, that's really interesting about how reading isn't big there yet. I hope it'll start booming so you'll have someone to share your love of books with.

Thanks for your sweet comments on my book! I'm glad you liked the reader questions. Authors (me included) sometimes have trouble coming up with them! :)

  7. LOL, Pam. My kids are older, so it's much easier. You'll get there eventually. :)

  8. Lyn, that's a great idea. I'll have to give them a copy of my next one.
