ANNIVERSARY AND A NEW BOOK!

My son and daughter-in-law have a wedding anniversary today. I have a different kind of anniversary on January 31. That’s the date in 2000 I received “the call” from the editorial staff at Harlequin (owner of Love Inspired) offering to buy my first book. I can hardly believe it’s been eleven years and quite a few sales since that exhilarating moment. In all this time, I have been blessed to work with the same amazing editor who made that call-Allison Lyons. Maybe I should send her a cyber bouquet!

My mother was an avid romance reader, too, and I was sad she didn’t live to see her daughter write a book. But when “the call” finally came, I wondered if maybe somehow she knew. After all, January 31 was her birthday. (Love you, Mom!!)

On March 1, A Place To Belong continues the “Redemption River” series. Hope you’ll keep an eye out!

  2. We all remember that first call. Usually your mind goes blank. Then when you hang up, you yell and scream and call all your friends.

  4. Oh, how sweet that it was your mom's b-day!! My LI anniversary is Jan. 30! Of course, that was 2007. :) I've got to do some catching up to reach where you are, Linda. :)

  6. You have been blessed to have the same editor, Linda. I've had nearly 20 at Love Inspired. Not goog.

  7. I don't remember the date. It was December, because Steve Laube called me while I was wrapping presents. I was down on my knees, and eight months pregnant. I'm still glad I forced myself to stand up and go to the phone.

  8. Same editor! I'm with Lyn, I've had five or maybe six.

So, Linda, didn't you sell to LI or to the romance line first?
