Ask Elnora--Why do we love the beach?? Lenora Worth

Darlings, this will be a quick post. Elnora is lounging on pure white sand by a blue ocean. And maybe flirting with the cabana boy just a bit. I will try to tear myself away to check in and make sure everyone is behaving while I enjoy a little rest and relaxation. But that begs the question--Why do women love the beach so much? And why do men seem to think it's the most boring thing on God's green earth?

Discuss amongst yourself and I'll be back to see what you're saying. Right now, I need to check on my tan and find something fruity and refreshing to drink.

Wish you were here!

  1. its funny I spent 13 days in Hawaii and didn't even go in the water. To me beach means swimming not reading or anything. I burn and am very sun aware so dont want to lie in the sun or sit on a lounge chair in the heat. I guess beach means sea to me also. but I know some call lakes beaches also (didn't before reading books) I think here men love the beach, surf and sand and spend as much time there as the women. I think more than anything it some women have the romantic notion about the sea, sun and palmtrees and sunsets over the ocean (which are beautiful) I will say I watch the sunsets in Hawaii.

  2. And I love to lay by the beach and read. When I get hot, I get wet, but then head right back to the lounge chair. Hubby says I can do the same thing with a regular pool and chair, but ahhh, the beach.

  3. I've never been to the beach, but I'd love to visit one someday. I'd be doing the same thing as you, Pamela...read, get hot, get wet, read some more.... :)

I'd love to see a beautiful beach sunset, too.

  4. Actually Im with your husband I prefer the pool water to the sea water. comes from getting dunked a few to many times. Although I dont read at the beach or pool. unless its under the shade. water and books dont mix well with me.

  5. Hi El:

If you count going in the water and time spent in the water, men like the beach much more than women. If you count just sitting under an umbrella doing nothing, why would a man want to do that?

I think women like the beach so much because it is usually not near a kitchen. A woman’s work may never be done, but it seems more done when at the beach.

  6. I love to sit on a beach chair right at the water's edge and let the waves lap at feet while I read. I'm so fortunate that I live less than a mile away from the beach. In the summer, I do my walk at the beach almost every day. Today was a perfect day--not too hot. But even a hot day is wonderful at the beach with lots of sunscreen and a beach umbrella.

  7. I think here its more a family event to go to the beach and most who go to the beach go to swim or play beach cricket etc. You dont tend to see a much reading on the beach (or the ones we go to.) I think part of it is especially for regonial people we make a day of it. The Beach is about 1 hour (a country hour) away and alot will go for the day or afternoon for fun and swimming
