An Embarrassing Situation

Hello.  Winnie Griggs here.  My apologies for the lateness of getting this post up, but I totally spaced on this being my day up at bat.  Which is doubly embarrassing since I'm the person in charge of setting up the posting schedules.  But I will console myself with the quote below

And to make it up to all of you, I'm going to give away a copy of my brand new release, Her Holiday Family, to THREE commenters on today's post.  All you have to do is tell me about one embarrassing situation you found yourself in so I won't be embarrassed all by myself :)

HER HOLIDAY FAMILY

What happens when a straight-laced young widow’s home is invaded by ten rambunctious orphans and their handsome caretaker just in time for the holidays...

Reserved widow Eileen Pierce never considered herself the kind of woman who was cut out to be a mother. She wouldn't know what to do with one child, much less ten. But when handyman Simon Tucker is stranded in town with a group of young orphans just before Thanksgiving, she discovers she can't just turn them away.

Simon knows there's more to Eileen than meets the eye. Though his easygoing demeanor immediately clashes with her buttoned-up propriety, Simon's kindness soon melts Eileen's stern facade. Simon and the children have already upended Eileen's quiet, orderly life. Will they do the same to her guarded heart?

  1. I think life gets busier come November and December. I'm running fast as I can and seem to be going backwards :)

  4. Winnie, I did the same thing a couple of months ago back when I was still doing some of the scheduling! So don't feel alone. :)

  5. Katrina, I love that one! :)

Lane, I had a similar one. My dad always pronounced antiques like "anti-cues" just playing around. Well, I was young and thought that was how you said it! So I pronounced it that way at school one day. Very embarrassing! So I know how you felt. :)

  8. About six years ago (my son was still in high school) I drove to pick him up at a friend's house where several teens were working on a school project. On the way to get him, I picked up a yummy meal to eat when we got home. I pulled into a circular driveway and parked directly in front of a large window, so he could look out and see I was there. While waiting I began eating some of the fried okra from our meal and also reading a Christian novel I'd brought with me. After about twenty minutes, he phoned me on my cell and asked where I was. "I'm right in front of the window, waiting for you." I knew he'd be able to see me there. ~ To my horror he replied, "Mom, you're in front of someone else's house. Greg lives 3 houses up---you went too far down the street." ~ I could only imagine what the residents of that house thought to look out and see some strange lady, reading and eating okra in their driveway, LOL!

  9. Hi Pam - wish I could blame it on the season but I'm afraid I just plain dropped the ball on this one

Katrina - LOL, that sounds like me and my keys!

Kathleen - LOL, that sounds like a good answer to me!

  10. Missy, that does make me feel better because I know how organized you are.

Jennifer - 4 different schools, yikes! It's a wonder that you keep them straight at all!

Oh Jackie, that's so funny, but I know at the time it was far from it. And I refuse to go into all the cooking mishaps I've had over the years

  11. Pattie Jo - Oh my, I can just picture it! Thanks for sharing that and making me smile.

  12. Ooh, having fun reading these. One time a fellow visited our church and I knew I recognized him, but couldn't place him so I kept asking questions, figuring it would come to me--without asking the big one: "who are you and how do I know you?" Well, I never figured out how I knew him until my husband told me afterward. Here we'd even talked about "his business" and I still didn't place him as the owner of a new business 3 blocks from us and former manager of a business I frequented often! In my defense...I'd never seen him in a suit in tie. :D

  13. Since we have 5 brave (non-CRAFTIE) ladies who confessed an embarassing moment, I think I'll just give each of you a book! So Katrina, Kathleen, Jennifer, Jackie and Patti Jo, if each of you will contact me via my website with your mailing info, I'll get a book on out to you shortly.

  14. Sandra, your forgetful moment reminds me of the time I was in a restaurant and a lady came up to me saying hello and how good it was to see me. I had zero idea who she was but smiled and played along with vague answers. After she left, my friend said, "You had no idea who she was, did you?" Yikes. If it was that obvious to her, the poor woman who was so excited to see me must have realized it too. Maybe it is best to just admit defeat and ask.
