Hello everyone, Winnie Griggs here.
Today is officially the first full day of summer, a season
associated with vacations, beaches, high temperatures and lazy days. And true to form, I have some fun things
planned for the coming weeks.
The thing I’m looking forward to the most is the family vacation
we have planned – a trip to the Grand Canyon!
There’s a large group of family members going – twelve in all – so the
planning has been a bit of a challenge.
But it’s coming together and I’m getting really excited about it.
Then in late July there’s the big Romance writers of America
national conference. This is always
great event for not only the learning opportunities but also the chance
to catch up with friends and industry professionals I only get to see
face-to-face at this once a year event. And this year it's being held in Orlando so there may just be a Disney hop in my future...
And in August my mom, my sisters and I are planning a fun
getaway to the beach for a few days – a really fun way to top off the summer!
So what about you - what are your plans for this summer?
I have a new book out this month, so to celebrate I'll be giving away a copy to one of the folks who leaves a comment on this post.
From Bachelor Sheriff to Family Man
Tired of pining for handsome sheriff Ward Gleason, seamstress
Hazel Andrews plans to head East for a fresh start—until Ward finds an
abandoned child. Hazel can't turn down his request that she watch the little
girl while he investigates a spate of crimes. But spending time with Ward is
sending local gossips—and Hazel's heart—into turmoil.
Nothing
in Ward's world is the same since he took charge of orphaned Meg…and that
includes his growing feelings for Hazel. A fake engagement will allow them to
care for the child together until Hazel moves away and finds someone more
worthy. But with little Meg convinced she's already found her forever family,
can Ward and Hazel dare to make her dreams come true, along with their own?
No big plans for summer -- but hoping for a fall getaway!

DeleteAmy, camping sounds like fun! Wishing you blue skies and lots of sunshine...also lots of fish to catch!
DeleteFirst, I have a book due June 30. Prayers would be appreciated. Then . . . summer fun. July will be a big month for our family. My husband and I are leading a group to work in the slums of Costa Rica. I will make a quick trip to Orlando for RWA and at the end of July, we've rented a house in the Great Smokies in honor of my youngest graduating high school.
ReplyDeleteWhew you are busy. Praying you make your deadline.
DeleteHi Lisa. Sounds like you have a very full summer ahead of you. I hope to see you in Orlando!
DeleteHow special to do mission work in Costa Rica, Lisa! Bless you!
DeleteCongrats to your graduate!
Winnie, looking forward to seeing you at RWA! We have a beach trip planned, and I'm attending the Christian Fiction Readers' Retreat in Cincinnati in August, which will be a delightful event. Then I hope to head farther north and tour some of Ohio's Amish areas.
ReplyDeleteYou have a full summer planned!
DeleteHi Debby Looks like there are a lot of fun things in your future! See you in Orlando!
DeleteMy original plan was to just teach Vacation Bible School but I just had cancer surgery so I will just rest, recover and heal. Of course I will be sitting on the porch reading. In the fall we will go to the Food and Wine Festival at Disney.

ReplyDeleteHi Lenora. Hope you're staying safe and dry down there. Looking forward to seeing you in Orlando!
DeleteLenora, are you getting a lot of rain? Atlanta has been hit yesterday and today with lots of flash flood warnings.
DeleteStay dry...and safe!
Sounds like a busy summer. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Leigh. Hope you have a great summer too!
DeleteYou will love the Grand Canyon. Are you going to see both the south rim and the north rim? I like the north rim better.
ReplyDeleteHi Merrilee. Unfortunately we'll only be able to do the South rim this time. Hopefully we can return another year and do the north. I'd love to do the Skywalk!
DeleteI'm a fan of all things summer. Swimming with my grands is my favorite summertime activity. Thanks for sharing, Winnie.
ReplyDeleteOh Angel, that does sound fun. Do you have your own pool? Or do you live near a beach?

ReplyDeleteSounds like wonderful trip, Winnie. I have never been to the Grand Canyon, but I would love to go. I'll also be at the RWA conference. Hope to see you there. We'll be spending lots of time in Cape Cod at the beach. Happy summer!
Hi Belle. Sounds like Orlando will be the place to be this summer! See you there.
DeleteWish I could meet with you all in Orlando but that's not in the cards for us this year. Have fun at Disney!
ReplyDeleteWe'll miss you, Deb!
DeleteWish you could be there too!
DeleteWe love camping but our next trip is in October. We have a teardrop trailer and we camp with others that have teardrop or other tiny trailers. We will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in October too. I wish I could tag along to the Grand canyon with you.
ReplyDeleteOctober is a lovely time to go camping, at least here in the south. Moderate temperatures and beautiful fall scenery...
DeleteThanks to everyone who stopped in to leave a comment and share your summer plans. I threw the names in a hat and the one I drew out was Maryann Skaritka. Congratulations Maryann, I'll be contacting you shortly.
ReplyDeleteI love going to the beach. I love listening to the waves crash against the shore. Winnie, have a great time.
