Birthday Book Bash - Suspense Style

We're celebrating spring and Lenora's birthday here this week.

And since Tuesday is the day for our suspense ladies to post, we thought we'd pose a fun question to get your creative juices flowing. Remember, everyone who leaves a comment will have a chance to win an armload of books at the end of the week!

So here's the question... What might pop out of the cake in a Love Inspired Suspense author's book?
Hee, hee, hee. Have fun with this one!

  1. The murder weapon, such as a gun, could pop out of the cake. The mystery could be who had planted it there, resulting in the murder of either the person who's birthday it is or one of the party guests. Or, who was really the intended victim.
(Please feel free to use this idea in a book. I'd love to see how it turns out. Just mention me.)

  2. Beth, great ideas. I immediately thought of Clue or a Murder Mystery Dinner party. My husband and I have hosted a few of these before and they are so fun. Everyone gets a character before hand, must dress like their character and stay in character during the dinner while clues are revealed and then every one takes a guess at who done the dirty deed. I could totally see a birthday themed murder mystery party.

  3. Don't think I can "top" Beth's...lol... but was thinking perhaps a child born unbeknownst to its father and thus they are reunited.

  4. What if the girl that pops out had no memory of how she got in the cake. She, also, has bruises and blood on her that is not her own on her.

  6. At the point of cutting the cake, it could trigger a time bomb! (What cannot happen in LIS?)

  8. Hard one. I thought maybe someone very special to both the people that linked them together. But seems everyone is on the mystery idea. So I don't know but want to be entered to win the prizes.

  10. Oh, I'm late because I've been out playing all day!! I think the cake is full of missing treasure!! Or a secret shoe design that will change the world. What fun!!

  11. Happy Birthday, Lenora! I don't know if anything inanimate could 'pop' out of a cake, but you could find something when you were cutting into it. So maybe there's a flash drive of CD (but that's boring as you need to find a laptop to discover more). Murder weapon? - knife, gun, vial of poison? Or anonymous letter accusing birthday girl of unspecific but illicit practices? Ooh, limitless possibilities!

  12. I think who pops out of the cake is a person connected to mysteries, (Jessica Fletcher of Murder She Wrote, Joanne Fluke author of Hannah Swensen Mysteries and recipes, Cleo Coyle author of Coffeehouse Mysteries, Agatha Christie, Peter Falk of Columbo, etc.) who has clues to the murderer in the book.
