The RITA, an award presented by Romance Writers of America, is the Oscar of romance writers-and this year’s presentation is coming up very soon! Most authors would love to have one of these golden girls perched on her/his desk. Just finaling in this contest is a huge honor.
During the next two weeks, you'll meet the ladies who finaled this year.
But, in the meantime, here's our Craftie Ladie roll call.
2013 - Missy Tippens finaled with A House Full of Hope.
2008 - Pamela Tracy finaled with her Love Inspired Suspense Pursuit of Justice. Pamela says, "I knew when I started this book that it was different. The story had been hammering at me for years, begging me to give it a turn. From the first page, it felt right. When it finaled in the RITA, I felt like someone had just whispered in my ear, 'Hey, you really can write.' I felt like Cinderella the entire conference.
2007 - Allie Pleiter finaled with My So-Called Love Life

Pamela, I forgot to email you my comment about being nominated for a RITA! I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteSecond to getting the first sale call, the call about the Rita was probably my biggest writing thrill. Such an honor, and a dream come true.
I'm just so proud of all of them! They each deserve a win! It's a tough contest.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations all! What a great honor. Yes, Missy, it would be a thrill nearly equal to getting The Call.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to our RITAs--really inspiring, talented authors! All of the LI authors are, as I'm sure you'll agree, but it's way cool to see some of our Craftie Ladies achieve such success. So proud of each and every one of you.
ReplyDeleteI was privileged to attend the Awards Ceremony at the Romance Writers of America® national conference in 2008 and hear Linda Goodnight's name called. I clapped so hard my palms stung.
I too forget to send in a comment
ReplyDeleteOne of the fun perks of finaling is at conference I felt like a princess. The finalist are given a ribbon and a silver pin in the replica of RITA to wear on their name badge so that everyone they come in contact with sees that they are a finalist. For those few days you get to be a celebrity. Then conference ends and everyone goes back to reality. But the finalist wear their pin every year. The winners get a gold pin plus the beautiful statue to take home.
Congratulations to all. I can't wait to hear about all of our current finalist's books.
