Friday Sisterhood with Dana Mentink

Family Status: Married nineteen years, two beautiful bear cubs (stage names Yogi and Boo Boo.) One dog, one parakeet, one geriatric box turtle.

What Is Your Favorite Beverage: Chocolate milk shakes. Too bad my favorite isn’t water or something good for me!

What Is Your Favorite Food: My hubby’s barbecue. He’s the ‘Cue Master!

What Is Your Favorite Thing to do During Free Time: Reading, of course, but currently I’m trying to learn to play the ukulele (with mixed results!)

Who Has Been the Most Influential Person in Your Life:My father. He’s just the most humble, loving, amazing person on the planet.

First Book You Fell in Love With: The whole Chronicles of Narnia series, but the funny thing is, I didn’t know they were Christian novels until I was a grownup! Isn’t that funny? I was also enamored of the Wizard of Oz books. Talking chickens? Houses made of glass? I ate that up.

A Book You Wish You’d Written: Mrs. Mike. Have you read it? I just hung on every word of that thing.

First Book Published: Trouble Up Finny’s Nose with Barbour’s Heartsong Mysteries. Then I started in with Harlequin and I’ve written for River North as well.

Most Recent Book: Flood Zone is a July release for Love Inspired Suspense.

  1. Hi Dana! It was fun to learn a little more about you. Those were also my favorite books growing up. My grandma had the old Oz books with all the illustrations. Loved them. And yes, I've read the Narnia books dozens of times. My favorite was the Voyage of the Dawntreader. Any wonder I married a sailor?

  2. Hi Dana! I'm with you on the chocolate milkshakes. They shouldn't have any calories, right?

I also loved the Chronicles of Narnia and, like you, had no idea they were Christian until later in life. I still remember the Christmas my parents bought me the boxed set. I turned the easy chair backwards so I could hide from the world and, while everyone else was celebrating the holiday, I read through them all.

  4. Deb,
I'm with you. I had no idea they were 'deep' until I was grown. Kinda glad I didn't know the first time I read them. Then, it was just for fun.

  5. Always fun to get to know another Love Inspired author.

I haven't read the Narnia books, but my daughter loved them and had no idea they were Christian books until she read it somewhere as an adult.

  6. Hey, Christine. I loved all the Narnia books, but my fave was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardobe!
