Blessings and Book Ideas

Rhonda Gibson here:

You know that moment when you know you are truly blessed? Well, today I feel that way. I love that Love Inspired publishes historical romances. The month of June is when Pony Express Hero comes out. And, I'm blessed to share the bookshelves with these other three books.

I've had the pleasure of reading other books by Janet, Karen and Lily and know their books are great! So I'll be buying all three when they show up at my Walmart. It is a blessing to be in such great company.

I'm also blessed that I come across such interesting things that bring about the ideas for my books. The idea for Pony Express Hero came when I read an article about a hugh Texas ranch and how the owner died leaving his daughter in charge of the ranch. The author of the article jokingly wrote, "I wonder if she had a hard time finding an honest husband?" That question got my brain to thinking and soon Pony Express Hero was born.

If you are a writer/author, how did you come up with the basic idea for your current book?
If you are a reader, have you come across any ideas that you'd like to see as the basic idea in one of our books? Inquiring minds want to know.

  6. Rhonda, I love hearing how other authors come up with ideas. For me, I can hear something on TV or read about something that's happened and that sparks my imagination and I start to formulate a story from there.

Pony Express sounds terrific. Good luck with the release.

  7. I'll look for your book, Rhonda! It sounds great!

I get ideas for my books from all kinds of places--conversations I overhear when I'm out and about, the news, church sermons, etc.

  8. Looking forward to seeing these stories on the shelves, Rhonda! And tomorrow, my post tells how the Boardinghouse Betrothal idea came to me, so I won't give it away now. :) But similar to you and others, it's usually by something I've read or heard about--that interests me and keeps coming to mind until I know I have to write about it.

  9. My debut novel, Early Birds, came when our dog told us to quit our jobs, sell everything, buy an RV and hit the road. We did. Thought it was such a good idea that I fictionalized it, added another couple and off they went.

  12. Thanks Debby, It's amazing where an idea will be sparked from. I was standing in line one day and heard a man's voice and his accent and an idea hit me for that man's story. Loved his voice.

  15. For me its genders doing something that is not the norm for their gender eg male - nurses, hairdressers, ...female - tradies,
The historical fiction books often utlise this like all female cowboys on ranches, or when one gender is not around the other gender fills the gap. I guess i love seeing people going against tradition n blowing the straight laced characters thinking

  16. Hi Rhonda, I have an idea file because ideas seem to come in spurts. My latest came to me when an editor put a call out for an adventure story. Here's hoping LIH will like it enough to buy it! If not, it's back to the file...I can't wait to read your latest.
