Missy, here. And my daughter is a huge Justin Bieber fan. So much so that when she heard about a pre-release showing of his new movie, Never Say Never, she begged me to get online the day the tickets went on sale to buy them. So right at 10 a.m. on a weekday a few months ago, I purchased us tickets to go see the movie 2 days before it officially released. In our package, we got special purple 3-D glasses and a badge to wear around our necks. Oh, and glow sticks. (Yes, picture me waving my glow stick as he sang!) :)
My daughter was thrilled when I got those tickets. We talked about it for the next two months or so. And on February 9th, we went to see the movie. Went waaay early to get good seats. Stood in line. Then finally went in to get ready for the show. And then after all that waiting...the movie started.
Oh. My. Gosh. The screaming girls nearly made my eardrums bleed. :) Especially the first time Justin reached out his hand, and in 3-D it looked as if he was reaching out to each one of them. It was a totally thrilling experience for my daughter. But on the way home, she gave a big sigh and said, "It's depressing when something you've looked so forward to is over."
I told her it's like that in life. I get in a bit of a funk after a big conference or retreat. Or after an event I've been really looking forward to. And as we're thinking a little this month on the blog about February being the month of love, and post Valentine's Day, I realized that some of us may be experiencing a bit of a holiday let down. (Some may have this worse after Christmas or a birthday.)
It's just something we have to deal with. And I'm wondering what each of you does to handle the letdown after a mountaintop experience.
P.S. The movie was really good!

Sharing Family Excitement
Missy, here. We've had some excitement in the family this summer and fall. My nephew, Buster Posey, has had a great rookie season with the San Francisco Giants. And they're the National League West division champs, heading to playoffs! This photo is a shot my father-in-law took off the TV the other night after they beat the Padres. :)
It's been fun to be able to watch him play on TV. We even got the chance to go watch him when they played the Braves in Atlanta back in August. And now they'll be playing the Braves in the playoffs. It's all been very exiting to watch him living out his dream.
Selling books to Steeple Hill has been a dream come true for me! Have you ever had the chance to live out one of your dreams?

Finding Gems

Missy Tippens, here. Okay, so finding gems might be a misleading title for my post. I didn't find a diamond or rubies. What I'm talking about finding is...photos. Photos that I just found on my cell phone today! :)
So I thought I'd share a fun story with you that happened back in July on our beach vacation.
The day we checked out and were leaving the condo, I saw a gorgeous view from the parking deck. Yes, even the parking deck had a view in this great place! So as we were driving off, I yelled for my husband to halt the car so I could snap a few photos (and take one last look at the beach--which is always sad for me). I grabbed my phone and climbed out.

This is the beautiful blue and white and green of the Alabama Gulf. Gorgeous. And such a perfect day made it difficult to leave.
Then I turned and snapped the next photo while breathing in the fresh air, hoping that we'd be able to come back to the same place next year.
Then I turned around...and my family and vehicle were gone! Vanished. No sounds. No honking and waving. No quiet sneaking away. I'd been so wrapped up in the scenery that I'd lost total track of time.

I walked toward the main highway and looked for them. Nothing.
They'd really pulled a good one on me! Then it hit me that they may have gone up to a higher level on the deck.
About the time I reached the bottom of the ramp, here they came. The last photo is the one I snapped as they acted like they were going to pass me by.
What fun! Don't you love it when you can laugh with someone you love?

Thanks to our Faithful Readers!

Lyn Cote here!
This month my two Love Inspired romances Finally Home & Finally Found will be reissued as a Love Inspired Classic. The reissuing of our "backlist" of books and the way they sell out is quite a compliment to us. Thank you from me and the other Love Inspired authors whom you support by buying our books and telling friends and booksellers and librarians about our books. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
If you didn't buy our books, read them and recommend them to friends and family, there would be no Love Inspired romances. If readers don't buy our books, editors won't ask us for more stories and then Love Inspired would be no more.
Our publisher's headquarters is in New York City. And they tell us that our books receive more reader letters than all their other romance lines. I know I get a lift when I hear from a reader. I never know what hearts God will touch with my stories. It's so interesting to hear readers who found hope and encouragement in my stories that I didn't know I'd written in there!
If you'd like to win a copy of Finally Home & Finally Found, drop by my blog and leave a comment this month. I'm giving away one copy a week in a drawing of those who leave comments. Also I "came clean about The Preacher's Daughter" on another group blog. The Preacher's Daughter is the unofficial sequel to Finally Home & Finally Found. Click blog and read it; it's kind of a funny story of mix-ups.
Anyway, hope you had a great Labor Day and have a golden autumn to boot!
