Winter blahs

I've got the winter blahs. I always get them. Every year. The only time I really like winter is when there is snow and lots of sunshine to make the snow sparkle like diamonds.
Oh, I do like those occasional abnormally warm days that let you escape the house in just a sweatshirt. Today it was up to 50, but it was cloudy and foggy. Some film maker could have shot a werewolf movie in my back yard. Ugh! Blah, blah, blah.

This has been a very gray, very cold year and I'm just fed up. I want sunshine. I need sunshine. Many people suffer from SAD, seasonal affective disorder, but most, like me, just get the winter blahs.
What do you do to ward off cabin fever?
Or are you one of those hardy people who like winter?

  1. Pat, I'm sorry you've gotten hit with the blahs. I don't like winter either. But mainly, I just don't like being cold. It doesn't really get me down. I'm thankful, because my mom has always suffered from SAD.

We had warm and sunny(in the60's) the last couple of days, and it was great. But today is rainy and dreary. I'm so ready for spring!

  2. Winter can be so hard. Today I really didn't want to get out but I forced myself to get moving and go to town. It ended up being one of those wonderful, snowy, sun sparkle days... I feel so much better! :-) Sometimes just doing something does the trick and gets me beyond the blahs. I hope the Lord blesses you with His sunshine today, Pat.

  3. Missy, thanks for the sympathy. Like you, I am so ready for spring.

    Merry,
No sun today, but I know it will reappear someday. I have faith.

  4. Pat, I hope you feel better soon (and receive some sunshine too!). ~ On dreary winter days, I enjoy curling up with a LOVE INSPIRED book and a cup of coffee (or cocoa), surrounded by my sweet kitties! Just stroking their soft fur is very soothing and comforting.~ I also tell myself how much I'll appreciate SPRING after these dreary winter days! Blessings from Georgia, Patti Jo

  5. Patti Jo,
That's what I need. A kitten. Our dog wouldn't like it, but hey, who's the boss here anyway?

I'm so glad you enjoy our books. They are all about God's grace and that makes even a blah girl like myself feel good.

  6. I admit in Winter I get that way at times. We dont get the snow and stuff but I do get the blahs in winter when its dull and overcast and wet.
Thats one reason when I plan to come to Canada for 6 - 8 months it will be mid march/early April to end of Oct. To avoid the winter. I would love to see a white Christmas but that would be it.
Thankfully our winters are not that bad but when its damp and wet I dont have a car so its means relying on people to get places.
today went from humid and overcast to sunny and humid mid to high 90's

  7. I just found this blog, and I am very excited. Sure helps to chase away my winter blahs. I love Love Inspired and now I can read comments from like minded people as well as from my favorite authors.

  9. Diane,
I'm so glad you found our blog. Yes, good books can chase away the blues or at least keep them in check. I hope you come back and visit often.

  10. I used to hate winter until I learned to cross-country ski (which I can't do anymore). But my love for winter hasn't diminished. It's more difficult because I become more housebound. But that's where all you authors come in----I READ!!!!! And then I blog! Thank you!
