Danica Favorite here! Just over a week until the big day! If you're anything like a lot of people I know, you're frantically checking your list, making sure you have everything ready. When I run into someone I know, the question everyone asks is, "are you ready for Christmas?"
The trouble is, with everything going on, there's one thing we often leave off the list. In the midst of all this frenetic activity, have you taken the time to take care of yourself? Have you stopped to enjoy the wonder of the season?
I think it should be a requirement, as we're making all of our lists, that one of the priorities we put on the list is to take a moment to sit back and enjoy.
It seems almost ridiculous to have to put it on your list, but in all the madness and mayhem, when do we have time to do so unless we make the time? So right now, pull out your calendar and make an appointment with yourself. Give it the same priority you would any other unbreakable date. Spend that time focusing on caring for yourself, enjoying the season, and meditating on the things that make the holiday special for you.
Sometimes we miss out on so much of the wonderment and blessings of the season because we're too busy to stop and reflect. Or because we're so worn out from doing everything that needs to be done and not taking care of ourselves. Don't let this season pass you by!
What are some things you can do to be good to yourself in the coming days? What will you do on your date with yourself?

Love this idea, Danica. Now, to figure out what I'm going to do on my date.
ReplyDeleteI like to sit up late with the tree lit and maybe some Christmas music playing. So nice!
ReplyDeleteLove this reminder, Danica. Taking time to enjoy Christmas music and re-read the Christmas story in Luke refresh me, but it's good to remember to stop throughout the celebrations to notice all the little joys around us.
ReplyDeleteThis year I decided to simplify everything! The tree's going up this weekend, the few presents wrapped. I've already ordered a pre-made dinner from the grocery store to pick up Christmas Eve. The only baking I'm doing this year is my 2 pumpkin pies. I'm already more relaxed :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this important reminder, Danica. I'd like to ditto Missy's comment about the lit tree and Christmas music. Sounds perfect to me!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all the Craftie Ladies!
Hugs, Patti Jo
p.s. Recently I re-read the Christmas story in Luke (waving at Christine Johnson) and that also refreshes AND reminds me of the true joy of this season. :)
Jean, I hope you have a great date with yourself!
ReplyDeleteMissy, I love doing that too!!
Christine, definitely! I hope you get lots of little breaks!
Trixi, every year, I simplify just a little bit more, and you're right, it feels wonderful!
Patti Jo! Merry Christmas to you too! Enjoy your relaxing time.
