Milestones with Mary Alford

Milestones come in many different forms. Some are good. Some not so much.

Webster’s defines a milestone as a “significant point in development”.

This year, my oldest granddaughter has a milestone of her own. She turns 13 years old on August 9th and she’s been eagerly anticipating the day since she turned 12.

I have a milestone birthday coming up this year as well, but I’m not as eager to share mine as she is. Let’s just say it will be a big one!

Milestones can mean stepping out in a new career path, or just reaching a goal in the career you’ve been struggling with.

I’ve recently completed my 8th Love Inspired Suspense, something that I couldn’t have imagined when I first entered the Love Inspired Suspense Speed Writing contest in 2012. I was chosen to pitch, then Emily Rodmell requested a partial, followed by a full, and in December of 2012, I received my first contract with Love Inspired Suspense. Forgotten Past was published in 2014. At times, it still doesn’t feel real.

 Forgotten Past

And coming this August 6th, myself and 15 other authors will reach a milestone we’ve been working on since January with the release of the Summer of Suspense anthology. Christy Barritt, Patricia Bradley, Vannetta Chapman, Mary Ellis, Debby Giusti, Ruth Hartzler, Shaen Layle, Rachel J Good, Ruth Logan Herne, Loree Lough, Elizabeth Ludwig, Nancy Mehl, Serena Miller, Samantha Price, and Alana Terry have worked very hard on this anthology. Several of these lovely ladies write for Love Inspired.

You can Pre-Order Summer of Suspense at Barnes & Noble, Apple, and Amazon.

So what about you? Have you reached any milestones in your life? I’d love to hear about them.

And I’d like to give a shout out to Kristyn and LLord. These two ladies won our Mother's Day Giveaway. Please contact me through my email, maryjalfordauthor@gmail.com, so we can get those gifts out to you both.

Wishing you all a blessed August!

Mary Alford

  1. Congratulations, Mary, on all of your milestones. I remember 13 being one of my best years ever. It's so full of exploration and discovery. I don't know if we were in the same pitch but I sold back in 2012 on the pitch to Emily event. Katy did as well. Little did we know then what was coming!!! Congrats on your 8th Love Inspired. In my book every book written is a triumph. As for personal milestones...I just handed in my twelfth Love Inspired and it's time to do revisions-edits on it. EEEEEK!

  2. Hi Mary,

I turned 13 on Friday the 13th of August! I was terrified it was going to be a terrible year. I'm so glad your granddaughter is excited.

I had one of t hose milestones last year, and no, we're not talking about it because I don't feel that age - most days.

Congrats on all your successes. I pre-ordered Summer of Suspense so I'm eagerly awaiting it hitting my Kindle account.

I'm excited about the release of SUMMER OF SUSPENSE. I know the readers will enjoy the stories! Thanks for including me in the amazing lineup of authors!

My grands went back to school today so I've been thinking of this as the start of a new year for me, as well. Lots of good things to anticipate in the days ahead. Here's to a productive year for all of us filled with exciting milestones!

  4. I had a milestone birthday this year.i don’t feel any different. Lol. Congratulations on your books and the anthology. My biggest milestone this year has been having a book made into a movie. Seeing my characters come alive is surreal and exciting.
